Cultural organizations throughout the state of Wyoming have recently been awarded with a combined $165,590 to fund preshistoric, historic, and cultural preservation and education projects.

This round of grants was very competitive – there were 42 applicants requesting more than $1.2 million.

Albany County: George C. Frison Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, Endowment Challenge, $15,000; Office of the Wyoming State Archaeologist, Survey Division, Parker Peak Bivouac Site Reconnaissance Project, $5,000; UW College of Education, A Study of Wyoming History, Landscapes, People, Art and Ways of Life, $4,140; UWFine Arts Outreach, Basix 2014 A Cappella Tour, $7,500; Wyoming Women’s Business Center, Wyoming Fiber Trails, $5,000.

Big Horn County: The American Legion, Greybull Post 32, Legion Hall Rehabilitation, $10,000.

Carbon County: Town of Medicine Bow, Historical Museum Restoration Project, $8,000.

Fremont County: Fremont County School District #1/Promoting Arts in Lander Schools, Arts in the Classroom Program 2014-15, $5,000; Lander Art Center, Education Coordinator, $5,000.

Laramie County: Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority/Main Street, ARTSPACE Market Survey, $5,000; Cheyenne Little Theatre Players, Historic Atlas Theater Renovations, Phase I, $12,500; Hands in Harmony, Performance Equipment, $2,950; Wyoming State Museum, Interim Concept Design, $15,000.

Natrona County: Casper College, Kinser Jazz Festival, $10,000; Casper Elks Lodge #1353, Entryway and Accessibility Project, $10,500; Wyoming Archaeological Society, Shirley Basin Lodge Site Excavations, $6,500; Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, 2014-15 Community Access & Outreach Programs, $10,000.

Sheridan County: North Main Neighborhood Association, 2014 First People’s Pow Wow, $4,000.

Teton County: Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, Wild Science Festival, $8,000; The Murie Center, Murie Family Papers & Collection Preservation Project, $4,000.

Uinta County: City of Evanston, Evanston Cultural Center Seating Project, $12,500.
