Join us for our next Virtual Lecture on Thursday, October 7 at 5 pm MDT as Dr. Evan Peacock presents “Archaeology at Lyon’s Bluff: Past, Present, and Future.”

Learn more about what archaeological research reveals about Lyon’s Bluff, a Conservancy preserve that was once the site of an Indigenous agricultural village from around 1200 to 1650 AD in the Black Prairie of Mississippi.  The area’s peculiar environmental characteristics allow for extraordinary preservation of archaeological remains which have been revealed by excavations and remote sensing. This lecture will discuss the results of these studies and why this site is one of the most important sites in the Mid-South region.
